Working with the Youth to Build Our Future!
The Lowcountry Environmental Education Program, LEEP looks forward to starting another school year partnering with the community to enrich the studies of young people and reconnect them to the natural world. Several new events lay ahead. On August 17, LEEP will be participating in the annual First day Festival with the ever popular biodiesel school bus and helping the event to be waste free and environmentally friendly. On September 28 LEEP will be helping with the first annual Charleston Green Fair in Marion Square. Through out October and the Fall LEEP will be partnering with SCETV, Organic Process Productions, and The SC Department of Parks, Recreation, and tourism to promote the Web of Water documentary. The Web of Water is an educational film about a kayak expedition from the mountains above Greenville to the Charleston Harbor to educate students about the ecosystems and history of the waterway. LEEP will be revisiting various schools and parks that they passed through during the expedition last March of 2008 to show the film, promote outdoor activities, and discuss issues regarding the watershed.
